Lancia Flaminia Sport 3C 2.8 by Zagato - Conservative recommissioning

With only 33 examples on a total of almost 600 Lancia Flaminia's coachbuilt by Zagato, the Flaminia Sport Zagato 3C 2.8 is by far the rarest. This late subseries is also the most desirable, combining the 2nd series' classic lines with the most powerful evolution of the Flaminia engine, the 2.8 liter V6 fed by three twin-choke Webers producing 150bhp.

Only a handful of these 33 examples have survived, and this particular car is assuredly the most authentic in existence. Its condition is simply exceptional: it is fully original, so we have decided to recommission it in the most careful and sensible way. The result is an almost untouched car: the Argento Auteuil Metalizzato paint, dark red leather, upholstery, carpets, chrome, … have been left exactly as they were and have simply been cleaned thoroughly. All mechanical components of the car – which are of course all original – have been purely technically overhauled, with no cosmetic work whatsoever. The cherry on the cake is that it is now fully functional, reliable, and even a very sporty car to drive!

Originally delivered in Rome, it still wears its first "Roma" license plates, the so-called "Targhe Nere". Its original typical green Italian Libretto delivered in 1964 lists just five registered owners over half a century – all Roman residents, one of which kept the car for 25 years! When it was in the hands of the last Roman owner, it was discovered by Zagato's Marketing Director, who added the car to his personal collection before selling it to the current owner via us.

Presented in a "half cleaned" condition at the 2015 Zoute Concours d'Elegance, between a wide selection of fully restored (and sometimes over-restored) cars. Our aim was to make the classic car world think about originality and how to preserve it.
